every little ounce of this day was perfection. from dayna’s stunning dress, her pearl flats, the unbelievable cottage venue, her amazing flowers, and a crazy photogenic bride and groom….ahhh, i was in photographer heaven! dayna did such a great job selecting every aspect of the day to fit them. simply put, everything worked and the classic, timeless, yet vintage style could not have been pulled off any better.
oh, and to top it all off…{proud sister moment…} my sister was the coordinator of the wedding! congratulations michael and dayna. it was truly a fabulous day and it was such an honor to be a part!
pure joy on michael’s moms face as her son becomes a husband…

Oh my goodness, be still my heart. One of the things I love most (outside of my couples) is that each wedding is truly unique and different, from colors, decor, style, location, etc. Every wedding is pretty much like walking out Christmas morning- seeing everything I’ve heard about come to fruition and the excitement of finally seeing all the details (my fave!) first hand. Steph and Jake’s wedding was absolutely no exception to this. I about died when I walked into the room and saw the beautiful tables, flowers, detail…the list goes on and one. Seriously, Courtney at Fabulously Chic did an AMAZINGGG job- not only is she a great planner and coordinator but she has such great taste to top it all off.
Steph and Jake, congratulations!! It was a great honor to shoot your wedding and cover every moment of your beautiful day!
Steph and Jake’s mom witnessed their first look…
Totally love first looks and the emotion, candid moments that come with! Steph, you’re gorg…and I’m obsessed with your flowers. One of my favorite bouquets to date.
- 3v3 soccer season. As gymnastics season for Kyla comes to a close (competition wise), we now begin the training and tournaments for 3v3 soccer. We have our first tournament this Sunday in Winter Haven and I’m super pumped. Last year, we went to Nationals, where we finished 2nd, and had the BEST time. We’re looking forward to what’s hopefully the beginning of another fabulous season with a great group of girls!
- Spring Break…and the countdown to SUMMER! We had so much fun last week with our kids being home from school! From days at the pool, beach, Busch Gardens, the movies…ahhh, I’m so looking forward to having my kids home next month and not having to leave the house by 7:30 every morning!
- Grace for the Good Girl. My current read. Only on chapter 2 but so far, SO good. Excited to see how God uses this book in my life.
“All he wants is simply you- minus your good works, minus your perfect attendance, minus your politeness. When you really believe that, you may discover that all you want is Jesus, simply Jesus. ” Such a simple statement, but so profound when sifting through the safeness of trying to manage my “goodness” (which there really isn’t any) rather than resting in His freedom. Praying I come more undone and become more overwhelmed with Him and His goodness; knowing He will not come undone and is un-overwhelmable.
- Blogstomp. I really do have a desire to blog….but it can be so time consuming, and frankly, it just seems like there’s not enough time in a day. However, blogstomp may just have changed my life..and well, my blog for that matter. I purchased it about 4 years ago but they’ve updated their product in some pretty incredible ways. I think I’m sold and I think you should be ready for a much more active mgp blog!
- Natalie, one of my dearest friends, is having her second little girl this coming Monday and I am SOOOO excited!!! Her friendship has been a huge blessing over the past 16 years or so (even though we’ve lived in different states for the past 12 years) and I’m pretty crazy about her cute family!
We had a March filled with many fabulous weddings and Guy and Nicole’s was most definitely one of them! Married at the beautiful Burrough’s Home in Fort Myers, the day was truly amazing. The perfect Florida weather, a stunning bride, gorgeous location and an adorable couple…I was one pretty lucky photographer!
Congratulations Nicole and Guy! It was a great honor to be a part of your special day and I wish you guys the most amazing love and joy filled marriage for years and years to come!
Oh Kate, you never disappoint…

I think one of the things I treasure and love most about my job is that I get to meet, work and build relationships with so many different people. I get to hear their stories, how they met, how they got engaged and then the vision they have for their wedding.
A few weeks ago, I got to shoot chris and liz’s wedding at Kensington Country Club, in Naples, Florida. I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful it’s been working with these two, from the beginning stages of engagement up to the very day of their wedding. Liz and Chris, thanks for trusting me to tell your story through photographs. It was a true honor and such a blessing to work with you guys over the past year!
It’s been a long time since I’ve listed my Friday favorites and I just can’t stop thinking about the crazy blessings I’m experiencing. So thankful for this great season.
- Wedding Season is upon us. It’s going be a CRAZY few months but I have the best clients in the world, so with craziness comes great excitement!! The next 18 Saturdays have 16 weddings. As hard as it is to leave my family on their “day off”, I’m thankful to have a job I just love and have a blast doing.
- We’re in the middle of Kyla’s gymnastics season and she’s doing so, so awesome at all of her meets! It’s been such a journey, filled with ups and downs, but God has blessed her remarkably with athletic talent and it’s a true joy to watch her flourish in her sports. I’m a proud momma.
- JAMAICA!!! We are THRILLED to shoot Monique and Jim’s destination wedding next year in Ochos Rios. We are so thankful they chose us and are honored to get to capture their big day in this beautiful place! Here’s a sneak from their engagement session…definitely will be sharing more soon!
- Beth Moore’s Believing God study. This study is rocking my world and is teaching me so much about myself, my shortcomings and my calling. In a good way. Gods at work and I’m praying for great heart change in the process.-coffee.
Im posting this while in the middle a fabulous pedicure and were Fort Lauderdale bound in about 2 hours for another gymnastics meet! Happy, happy Friday!
{You know blogging has been a long time coming when your “To Blog” folder is overflowing and the hard drive on your computer is completely full. We’ve had a remarkable past few months with so many shoots and weddings to share, so hopefully in the next few days and weeks I can get my butt in gear and get this blog going again…}
If you didn’t know already, I grew up on the soccer fields. Some of my favorite memories growing up were on the fields and during the countless tournaments we traveled all over Florida to play in. Many friends were made, including Morgan, during these years of playing for the Strikers. In fact, Morgan was on my sister’s team, so I always looked forward to playing with her baby brothers during the games. Also, on my sister’s team was Cat (who was their amazing goalie). And Cat had a brother named Dominic (who also played on the Strikers). This was back in the 1990′s. Following me here?
Scroll forward to 2012. Dominic and Morgan ended up reconnecting after a whole lot of years of not seeing each other. And quickly fell in love.
{For all you former Strikers out there, how awesome are these shirts they had made?!}
Aren’t they just beautiful together? This summer they’ll exchange vows at The Edison Ford Winter Estates and I’m honored to tell the story through photographs. undeniable LOVE. You guys are just too cute… …and so gorgeous!!
Morgan and Dominic, I am crazy excited to work with you guys on your big day in June. I had so much fun with you guys and I know your day is going to be absolutely incredible!!
- Always start with mom’s wardrobe. Mom, make sure you wear something you absolutely love!! If you don’t like what you’re wearing, chances are, you won’t love your photos.
- Lay your outfit choices out to get an idea of what it will look like together.
- Wear clothing that you’re comfortable in.
- Layers (whether it be a belt, jewelry piece, cardigan, etc.) are always great and add to your photos!!
- We’re totally great with colorful clothes that compliment each other and we recommend avoiding “matchy” clothes (ie. white tops and khaki bottoms).
- Moms, apply your makeup in natural light for best results. Also, it’s usually recommended to go slightly brighter/heavier on your cheeks, eyes and lips since makeup tends to look toned down in photos.
- Make sure everyone is on the same page. Meaning, if you’re going to dress casual, have everyone in the same casual style and vice-versa, if you’re dressing more formal.
- We love patterns (plaid, stripes, etc.) BUT be careful not to overdo it (and no big logos)! Make sure you put some solid clothing pieces into your families wardrobe.
- Come ready to have fun!! We’re all about laughing and making sure the shoot is enjoyable for everyone!!
- Lastly, please, please don’t be late. We have to run on a super tight schedule, especially since the sun sets early, so please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your start time.
I have a crazy busy day ahead but I wanted to fit in a quick little blog with the absolute highlight of my day. Dear friends of ours, John and Kelly, adopted Jade, a beautiful 2 year old little girl from China a week and a half ago, and they arrive back home this afternoon. Jade is coming home to her family that consists of her big sister, Maddie, big brother Drue, her oldest sister, Lauren (who is one of my fabulous second shooters!! : )), who is married to Bill and together, they have baby Selah. Oh, how Jade will be so incredibly loved!!
Ever since they had a heart for adoption, I have always told Kelly that I would be at the airport, capturing that precious moment as they walk off the plane and into the arms of their closest friends and family. Today, is finally that day. To read more about their journey for Jade- check out their blog HERE. God is so good, so faithful and so loving and seeing His work as He purposefully knitted this little girl to her forever family has been astounding!!! It has been a true blessing watching them on this journey. Seriously, 3pm cannot come soon enough!!! Happy, happy, joyous Friday!! : )
Happy Birthday Jonah!!!! How is it even possible that it’s been 5 years since my Jonah was born? FIVE. As in, a whole hand and a whole lot of days we’ve shared together to get to this point, in what seems like an instant. Although, I sadly can’t remember every memory and every day, I know without a doubt we’ve had more laughter, more joy, more fun and more love with this little man in our family.
A few things I currently love about my Jonah boy…
- He always has his clothes on inside out…or backwards. It’s inevitable, and I love it.
- He’s a people pleaser. He never wants to make his mommy or daddy upset.
- He never tests the limits and is full of caution.
- His favorite ride at Busch Gardens is the carousel…and any other slow ride.
- He loves riding his bike.
- He loves to play Playdough.
- He’s simple.
- He could play board games all day long.
- He insists on a book before bed every single night. Even if it’s way too late.
- He has a pure passion and incredible love for music…and always has.
- He wants to play the guitar.
- He was my hardest baby (by far) and my easiest child.
- He’s shy, nervous, and quiet. Until you know him.
- He loves his sleep.
- His nicknames are JQ (for Jonah Quinton), Jo, JoJo and J. He answers to them all.
- He actually asks me to take pictures of him.
- He is super modest.
-He loves to pray (and every time his eyes are squeezed shut and his hands are folded….both of them, as hard as he possibly can).
-He always wants me to sleep with him for a few minutes after I tuck him in.
- He brushes his teeth and does his hair every morning without me asking.
- He is athletic and has some crazy speed behind his little legs!
- He loves preschool and is always so proud to get through the day without crying.
- He’s sensitive.
- His birthday list this year consisted of a bike helmet, a toothbrush and a tree. My sister insists he’s turning 85, instead of 5.
- He loves to love.
Every birthday I instantly turn into a ball of emotions, not really knowing wether to be happy, sad, excited or confused. I’m excited for him to be 5 and yet sad that he is growing into a big boy more and more by the day. I can’t get days back with Jonah and while he is 5, I want to soak up every ounce of him, treasuring each passing second, knowing it’s truly a gift.
We are so grateful the Lord blessed us with you, sweet, handsome boy!! And what a unbelievable blessing you are. Jonah, you are such a joy to us and we are so honored to be your parents. Happy Birthday Jonah- we love you so, so much!!!
She grew up playing softball and he grew up playing baseball. So, when Mariah told me that they wanted to do their engagement shoot at jetBlue Park, it seemed to suit them perfectly. Not only do I love shooting in new locations, but shooting at a location that is specifically chosen because it represents the couple is the best….
Mariah and Mike, it was fabulous to capture your love. And joy.
Mike, you did good. Really good. Not only is the ring stunning, but the proposal at the Rockefeller ice skating rink in NYC is definitely up there on the list of best proposals ever.
Mariah, you are gorgeous!!
One of my favorites….
Mariah and Mike, it was so great getting to know and also work with you guys! I hope you had a blast and that your baseball engagement session is everything you envisioned it to be!!
It truly is hard to believe that I met Valerie and Joe a year ago because I feel like I’ve known them forever. You know, the people you meet and they instantly make you feel like you’re their friend? They’re both those types of people- warm, loving, caring and so unbelievably selfless. You may recall the engagement session HERE…
Truthfully, I wanted to start this blog post with “Once upon a time…”, and well, considering we’re going back to the days when MySpace was the all the rage, I feel like it kind of suits the story well. ; ) The first time Joe laid eyes on Valerie, via her MySpace profile, he quickly knew (and confided in his friend) that he was going to marry her someday. Bored one night, Joe was skimming over his cousin’s MySpace friends, when he stumbled upon Valerie’s profile. A simple message from one side of the country to the other in November 2006, led to instant messages and hours and hours on the phone over the next few weeks. In fact, Joe ended up canceling his plans to go on a cruise with his buddies, to fly from Rhode Island to New Mexico over New Year’s Eve so he could finally meet this woman he had gotten to know so well. Little did they know, both of their lives were about to change forever.
Almost six years later, many of which were long distance, a joint move to Florida, a surprise proposal at Disney World and overcoming unbelievable odds, Joe and Valerie began the next chapter in their love story. Best friends, now husband and wife, they truly had a fairy tale day as they said “I do”, with a destination wedding, in the city where they first met- Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Oh, Valerie and Joe…words can’t thank you enough for taking us out to New Mexico to shoot your amazingly beautiful day. Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a true pleasure it was to work with the two of you and we so enjoyed hanging out with you guys (as well as the bridal party!!) over the long weekend. Both of you were always so kind to make us feel like we were more than your wedding photographers, but also your friends. Congratulations Joe an Valerie- it was a true honor to be a part of your day and we are so excited to watch the chapters in your love story grow over your lifetime together!
To see more from Valerie and Joe’s day, check out the slideshow below or you can watch it HERE:
{I’ve had this blog post written out for a few days but our internet has been out (again!!!) and I’m just now getting around to getting it published! No worries though, there are still a few spots left!!}
We are so excited to finally announce the release dates and all the planning that has gone into this year’s custom mini sessions- two different sessions, with two totally different styles! Our goal through these mini sessions is that your family has a great time, ends up with a handful of treasured photographs, at an affordable price and in a painless amount of time!
Now onto the fun stuff…November 18th will be in downtown Fort Myers- we’re going to work with the charm, uniqueness and color that it offers to create a perfect backdrop for our urban shoot. There are so, so many nooks and crannies in our downtown Fort Myers streets, and I have a few spots I can’t wait to use for this family session! Our next mini session, on November 25th, will take place in a field. Not just any field though…a styled field. A romantic, charming, neutral setting with a sofa, paper lanterns, flowers and a whole bunch of other little goodies.
About a week after the shoot, approximately 20 edited photographs will go into an online proofing gallery. From there, you’ll be able to directly order any professional product and/or images from your shoot at a discounted rate of 15%. You will receive the print release, up to 8×10 in size, for 5 of your chosen images.
Lastly, since we know that many of our clients will be using these photos for their Christmas cards and family gifts, we will refrain from posting any of our shoots until after Christmas (unless told otherwise).
One last important detail…if you refer a new client to us, and they book a mini session, we will gladly give you a $50 print credit to use towards product after the shoot. So, share our facebook statuses, share this blog entry and spread the word!
Information overload? Stay with me for one more second!! To book your date we are requiring a $50 nonrefundable fee to reserve your date and time, and the remaining balance will be paid at the shoot. Once your date is booked, we will also provide you with a list of recommendations to help make the most of your shoot. If you’re super excited and ready to book your custom session, contact us at maria@mariaglassford.com with your preferred session date!
As a wedding photographer, I always try to stress how important engagement photos are for my clients. In fact, I purposefully include them in my packages because I so desire the opportunity to work with my clients, camera in hand, before their wedding day. Engagement photos take the in-front-of-camera nerves away, allow a trusting relationship to grow, and in the end, you walk away with a great bunch of photos to adorn your walls and house. To me, they are somewhat of a lifeline to achieving awesome wedding photos, so it’s basically a win all around.
We started Nicole and Guy’s shoot (like many shoots) where they tell me how they’re not great in front of the camera. Honestly, it happens almost every shoot (I even still to this day say it myself when my sister has me in front of the camera). And, then, we start walking, talking, getting to know each other, and spend the next hour or so hanging out. Nerves have calmed and truly by the end of the shoot, I have some new friends, they work the camera (and look goooood doing it), trust has been built, and we’re basically set, from a photography aspect, for the wedding day.
Back to the friends part, Nicole and Guy, words can’t even express how fabulous you both are. It was so great getting to know you both better and I’m thankful to call you not only my clients, but my friends. Seriously, it’s working with people like you that make my job so much fun and enjoyable. I hope you guys love your photos!!
These candid moments are my fave…
Ahh, neither one of you can claim to be NOT photogenic again. Because I have proof that you ARE….
Yup, I’d say the camera loves you guys…
Nicole, you are adorable.
…you’re not bad yourself, Guy.
I have loved every second I’ve gotten to spend with you guys so far and I know your capturing your wedding in March will be no different. Thanks for choosing and trusting me during this most special time in your life- you guys are awesome!!
A few weeks ago I had the priveledge of working with Alyson and Cassell on their engagement photos. When they told me they wanted to some of them at the Fort Myers High stadium and football field, I was so excited and thrilled to go back for a visit after all these years! Many of my cherished highschool memories happened right on that field (as a Greenwave soccer player) and they are truly irreplaceable. Obviously, I’m not the only one who finds this area to be a pretty darn special place- after all, it is the same spot where Alyson and Cassell met, started dating and even got engaged!
Here’s where it all began….
I don’t think it gets much cuter than this…
Okay, I guess maybe it can. Seriously, you guys are adorable.
We had some great coaches (a.k.a. Cassell and Alyson’s proud dad’s) watching and helping us along the way. They were awesome and I loved seeing them be so involved with their kids as they begin this beautiful journey together! PS. I wasn’t kidding when I told you I got a picture of the two of you… : )
The first date football has led to this beauty of a ring…
Then we traveled to downtown Fort Myers for the rest of their engagement session…
Um, you two are going to make some cute kids one day…for real.
You guys are stunning!!
Alyson and Cassell, it was a blast working with you guys! You two have love written all over your face I can’t even tell you how much I am looking forward to your wedding next June!
Yes, you’re seeing this right. A MGP blog post after a few months hiatus. We’ve gone through summer, did a ton of traveling, experienced pure chaos with 5 highly opinionated little people at home for 2 months and had tons of fun with our family and friends. Oh, and in between all of it, we were doing our favorite thing- capturing awesome people!
So, now that you’re caught up on the past few months, here we go…
- Schedule. Now that my kids are all in school {crazy.}, I am really looking forward to having a schedule in our lives again. Although I will miss my kids and our sleep and sun filled summer days, a little routine is so needed for all us of!
- With all of my kids in school (one of them in preschool), I officially have 3 full days a week all.to.myself. After being a “stay/work at home mom” for 10 years, the first day I had a mini identity crisis, but alas, I’ve adjusted pretty easily. Kid-free lunches with some of my favorite people is definitely a highlight…
- SongPop. If you haven’t played it on your iPhone yet, it’s super fun and incredibly addictive. Oh and if you’re competitive and like winning, play against me…because I am terrible. And, surprisingly, for some reason I still like it.
- Destination Wedding. A huge highlight of our business this year is Valerie and Joe’s wedding, next week in Albuqurque, New Mexico. My sister and I head west on Friday for what will be a weekend filled with a whole bunch of love and amazingness!! We can’t wait, Joe and Val!
- This past weekend, our gang traveled up to Gainesville to celebrate my mom’s graduation, from the University of Florida, with her Doctorate degree. We couldn’t be more proud of her for constantly challenging and educating herself. And, now, we look forward to “having her back” after years of tiresome work!! Congrats, mom!! We love you!!
(all iphone photos, mixed with a little instagram)
We celebrated with a fabulous dinner at The Warehouse. Soooo good!!
After dinner, we headed over to Sarkara. Picture Yogurt Mountain, but cupcake style. Yes, pretty much AMAZING.
It all started about 6 years ago, when Hurricane Ernesto was forecasted to possibly reach our area of Southwest Florida. Being that Rachel and Jon were college students at the time, and classes were cancelled, their sorority and fraternity decided a joint Hurricane Party would be the perfect way to spend the evening. Little did these two know, that this evening would change the rest of their lives.
They quickly began dating, while both continued to pursue their education and the opportunities that came with- which led to a long distance relationship for much of this time.
This past November, when Jon traveled up to Chicago to visit Rachel over Thanksgiving weekend, he surprised her with a romantic dinner but more importantly, a beautiful diamond ring.
Cutest couple ever? Quite possibly.
I feel like this picture says it all about Jon and Rachel…in love, happy and more than ready to spend forever together…
Rachel and Jon, it was an honor to capture this special time in your lives. I loved watching you two interact, laugh together, and just be yourselves with one another. The connection you guys have together is undeniable and it makes me so, so excited to shoot your wedding next year!!
He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
(“How He Loves Us” David Crowder)
Although I’ve heard this song probably well over a 100 times, lately it’s a constant playing record in my heart and each word within it has more weight than it ever has. I’m thankful for the beautiful process of sanctification- the process of becoming like Christ as we grow in understanding of Him. Process is defined as, “a series of actions, changes, or functions bringing about a result”. I was/am so guilty in my Christian walk to want immediate gratification and well, immediate sanctification. Unfortunately, it’s the American way these days. We want something and we do whatever it takes to make sure that happens, yet often missing or making sure to skip the process, and the beauty that lies within. God wants me to know Him and have great relationship with Him. This comes with a process, just like all relationships.
When I first met my husband, I knew I would marry Him. Although I hardly knew him, I knew I wanted him to be mine. Forever. It took time to get to know him though and even still, over 10 years later, I’m learning and will always be learning more about Him. Of course, this process hasn’t always been easy and has had it’s challenges, but there’s still undeniable beauty in it. And this is just like my walk with Christ. When the Lord called me to Himself, although it was an immediate desire for Him- I didn’t know Him. Jeremiah 24:7 (Amplified) tells us “And I will give them a heart to know (recognize, understand, and be acquainted with) Me, that I am the Lord..” It’s an ongoing journey of surrendering my heart to Him, abiding in Him, and daily sanctification by His truth. His love is truly an unexplainable hurricane, and because of this I long to be His tree.
I feel like through this process, as He bends, molds, changes and grows me through better understand Him, I am so encouraged by the next verse.
We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
Because I am His, He demands all of me- not some, not when I feel like it, not when it’s easy- but ALL. Every minute, Everyday. Thankful that He redeemed me and so humbled to be sinking in His undeserving grace…today and always.

- Canon Professional Services. They fixed my sadly broken 5d, Mark ii in just a matter of days. I had mentally prepared myself that I was likely going to be purchasing a new one. Needless to say, when they sent me an email letting me know it was a $158 repair, I was thrilled.
- Miniature Golf! We took our younger three out to the course this past weekend and had the best time. Our little boys had never been mini golfing and I think they’re professional golfer of a grandpa would have been impressed with their skills. Considering I beat my hubby at the game, I think golf must just be in the Meyer blood. Actually, I know it is…
{iphone photo}
- Being a WAHM (Work At Home Mom). I will NEVER take this huge blessing for granted. I’m so, so thankful for my job and that I can create my own schedule (even if that means working at 1AM) and hang out with my kids while they fly through these most precious years!
- Soccer. Soccer. Soccer. We had a blast at last weekend soccer tournament and this Saturday we have another one to look forward to. Praying the rain hold’s off since we’re scheduled for 5 games tomorrow!!
- I’ve been convicted, challenged and encouraged by the Lord lately. I fall more in love with Him daily and am grateful He meets me right where I am- knowing exactly what I need during my time with Him. Lately, He’s really challenged me to be a daily cross-bearing Christian, and reflecting the attributes that come with- denying myself, loving others, doing all things without complaining, and having full trust and hope in Him. I know none of these are possible without divine strength from Him and how thankful I am for my Savior who lived a perfect, sinless life before paying the ultimate price.
-Instagram. I may be slightly obsessed. It’s like Facebook through photos. I’m pretty sure the picture below tells a better story and any of my status’ ever would. LOVE IT.
Happy Friday!!
PS. This last photo is for my sweet friend, Dina, who texted me yesterday wanting to know if I was withholding her photos for my Friday Favorites….here ya go!!
I have no idea how it’s already Friday again, but somehow, minute by minute, we’ve managed to get here with what seems like a blink of an eye. The past week has been pretty trying around here with sick kids, but I’m hoping we’re now on the mend. I guess I should just be grateful that a week full of sickness flew by incredibly fast!!!
- Soccer tournament!! This weekend my little girl has her first 3v3 tournament and I couldn’t be more excited! Since this was her mama’s sport, I’m pretty proud to see my baby girl have the love and passion for the game. At the age of 8, she’s the proud owner of 2 legit jerseys sporting her last name.
(iphone photo)
- American Idol. I can’t get over this year’s crazy talent on the show. I love all of them and can’t pick a sole favorite. However, I always am huge fans of Colton, Jessica, Skylar, and Joshua.
- My friends. I am so thankful for each and every one of them.
- Greeting cards. What in the world. Am I the ONLY person that takes {on minimum} 30 minutes to pick out a card for someone? It has to be *perfect*; every line has to be true and pretty much seem as if I wrote the card specifically for the receiver. My hubby asked me to run into CVS to grab milk the other night, and 2 cards and a gallon later….I had lost an hour of my life reading practically every card in the store. There’s a possibility I have a love/hate relationship.
- A much needed haircut. With some bangs. Finally.
(iphone photo)
- Loving Redken’s Powder Refresh. It’s a second day dry shampoo and I can’t even begin to tell you how awesome it is.
I can’t think of a better way to start off the week than a blog post…and 2 cups of coffee and all of my kids home from school. Last week, I had the honor of meeting and working with Jyl and Mike, who were on vacation from Michigan for Spring Break. Since they were staying on Fort Myers Beach, we traveled around the sandy streets and then moved onto the Bowditch Beach for sunset. Between this {adorable} newly engaged couple and the most perfect weather, we were basically set for a perfect shoot!
Jyl and Mike, it was so, so great to meet and work with the two of you! You guys were a blast to capture and I hope you love your photos so far. Enjoy the rest of your engagement and happy wedding planning!
Ya’ll are STUNNING. Ahhh, I can hardly handle how perfect you two were in front of the camera!
One of my faves. I’m pretty sure this is what love looks like.
Slowly but surely reducing the amount of photos in my “To Blog” folder….one shoot at a time! Now off to hang out with my kids for the day- I can’t tell you how excited I am for our beach and pool filled summer to officially start next month!!
I’ve been missing the blogging world lately and as days seem to be passing before my eyes, it makes me realize how much I *want* to be recording life. I don’t want to forget these fleeting and precious moments, but alas the days tend to blur together and I know if I don’t use the wonderful world wide web, I’ll forget about moments I so treasured. With that said, Im hoping, really, really hoping I get on here on a more consistent basis!
I can’t think of a better way to start than a new edition of Friday Favorites….
- Easter Sunday. I love Easter. The hope, the freedom, the gift, and the celebration of our wonderful and glorious Savior. I can’t help but reflect on what Jesus did for us and the gift of salvation He has given to us through his death, burial and resurrection. To think His final days in flesh were spent in prayer, showing love and kindness, washing his disciples feet, serving others; and although He was perfect, He faced the death of a criminal and was still obedient through the last second as he died on the cross. Gosh, it makes me realize how far I am from looking like Jesus in my daily walk, yet my heart is full with joy knowing I have a God that loves me despite myself!
{“Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?” John 18:11. I am undeserving of everything and anything and am so thankful for the promise of eternity and the truth we have been gifted through Jesus!!}
- The pool, the beach…the Florida sun. We’ve been soaking it all up and enjoying our beautiful weather by spending many hours by the water. It’s been heavenly.
- Oh you thought I could possibly do a FF and not mention some sort of food? Breyers Cookies and Cream (with the blast of Oreos) has been a recent fave in our freezer.
- Amazing Clients. Thanks Janell for the Wedding Wire review. It means more than words and I am so, so appreciative you took the time to write this sweet review.
- My kids. I fall more in love with them with each passing day….
- Selah Sky. Lauren, one of my sweet second shooters, had her precious daughter on Monday and she is quite the beauty! My heart is filled with joy with new babies in general, but there is something unexplainable when seeing a husband and wife welcome their first baby…
- Thin Mints. I don’t really thinks this needs much of an explanation. Every February though, it’s like seeing my long lost best friend.
Guilty Confession: I used to order boxes of Thin Mints off of Ebay when I was pregnant. For real. You can’t mess with a pregnant girls’ cravings.
- My Grace Story. It was my week to share my grace story at our small group this week. I actually loved tracking my story from birth until now and it was incredible to see just how faithful the Lord was, even when I didn’t recognize Him and His power in my life. I’m thankful for the undeserving FINISHED work he’s done on the Cross and the fact that I have a God that loves me despite myself.
- Our 2012 weddings. I’m really pumped over the awesome weddings and of course, the wonderful couples I get to work with.
- This past week my kids had a 4 day weekend from school and we had a BLAST!! It was so nice to be free of our crazy schedule and have a mini vacay in Orlando. On top of a great gymnastics meet up there, we paid Shamu a little visit at Sea World.

- American Idol and The Voice. The reality TV lover in me is pretty giddy almost every night during this time of year…
- My two littlest men (4 & 5) learned to ride their bikes in the last week. We’ve spent many afternoons outside watching them relish in their newfound freedom of life without training wheels. Between the tricks they’re now attempting and the almost mailbox collisions that seem to be daily, I’m hoping this initial bike riding stress lessens a little with each day.
Here’s me and Jonah on our way home after a run- I’m loving that he can ride his bike next to me now while I hit the road!
- American Idol. I’m a sucker for all things reality.
- Our life group. Our group started meeting 5 months ago and I feel so blessed to be able to do life, learn and experience wonderful biblical community through this handful of people, who I am grateful to now call friends. God has been so gracious and loving to place my husband and I in a group we had been praying for. I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for us as individuals, and also as a group, in the months to come.
- One of my BFF’s Natalie has been in town for a month an a half, while her husband was away at Air Force officer training. We’ve enjoyed days shopping, doughnuts at Bennetts, bible study, logging miles, eating, and just hanging out like old times. On top of that, she has the happiest little 7 month old, who I’ve got to spend time loving and playing with. Her stay has been nothing short of wonderful and I am going to miss her dearly when she leaves next week to go back to DC. Here’s proof of our Bennetts trip (aka- the best doughnut place in town)…

- My hubby. It’s pretty simple, but he loves our family, makes me laugh, loves Jesus and is quite the kid at heart. We’re opposite in so many ways but somehow it’s creates this perfect balance for us and our family. I love him.
- Flowers. Before becoming a wedding photographer, I never had an interest in flowers. At all. Already picked or still planted, once they’re in my hands they seem to brown and wither away before my eyes. If you were to look by my front door today, I truthfully have 3 dead potted flower pants without any hint of green popping out of the soil. It’s that bad. However, I have a new found love for all things flowers. I can’t wait to replant and recolor our front yard within the next few weeks.
(These were Alicia’s beautiful flowers from her wedding last October at The Ritz Carlton in Naples, Florida)
After meeting with Kyndra for the first time and hearing all about her vision for her wedding, I longed to be the photographer she chose to capture her day. Their November, nautical themed wedding, was right up my alley and I knew the detail in her day would have my heart racing with excitement with pretty much every turn. Besides photojournalism and capturing the candid moments of wedding days, strategically placed detail just wraps up the day and turns the perfect love story into a fairytale of a day. Needless to say, once Kyndra emailed me and told me that they had chosen me, I was completely ecstatic.
Kyle and Kyndra wanted to create their engagement photos as a little sneak peak of what’s to come for their big day, so we decided to head out to the beautiful island of Boca Grande to set the scene. I truly don’t think they could have chosen a better location for their vision- the place was just spectacular and had so much to offer with a great mixture of beach and buildings. Add to that a little burlap, fishing nets, some flowers and a beautiful couple, and I was a photographer in heaven.
There’s no way I could post this without saying THANK YOU to Stephanie of Along Came Stephanie, for coming to help style this engagement session! You’re fabulous and were a huge asset in detailing this shoot ever so perfectly!
Ahh, I’m always a sucker for a high school sweetheart love story.
You’re gorgeous, Kyndra!!
Kyle, you did GOOD and Kyndra, you’re one lucky lady to get to wear this bling the rest of your life!
The Boca Grande Lighthouse- definitely worth the drive to visit!
They say engagement photos are practice for your wedding day. I’m pretty sure you guys are ready.
Meet sweet, little Daisy the dog!
Kyndra and Kyle, November 12th can’t come soon enough. You have no idea how excited I am to be chosen to tell your amazing love story through photographs. The countdown is on…276 days!
Everytime I do a newborn shoot, I wish I had someone taking video of the “behind the scenes”; there’s so much love, a few hilarious moments (Alisa can attest to this), and of course, an incredibly cute little baby that we’re swooning over the whole time. Thankfully, Miss Myla was the perfect little doll and was so cooperative with every move we made her on. Even more so, my heart just smiles seeing Alisa and Kevin, her proud parents, dote all over their precious baby girl. Congrats guys, I am so happy for you both! Without further ado, get ready for the little girl with hair most newborns are jealous of, here’s little Miss Myla….
How is it Friday already?? This week flew by and the lack of blogging is a result of a boat load of other work and precious time spent with my family. Although I know I can’t do everything and stay on top of everything {at the same time} the way I’d love to sometimes, I’m starting to understand that this is okay and priorities need to be set. I’m resting in the fact that I do want to be a great blogger consistently but the truth is that I want to be a better mother and wife. Anyway, here we go…
- Jasmine Star- The Fix. Tickets went on sale this week and since she’s a photographer who I admire and have learned an incredible amount from, I couldn’t imagine skipping the opportunity to see her in Miami. Eeeek, soooo excited for March 2nd!!
-Our beautiful weather. I heard on the radio this morning that our weather has been and will continue to be perfect; and although perfect is a hard word to achieve and meet, our current weather surely doesn’t fall short of the definition. Blue skies, no humidity and just the most beautiful temperature.
- Twistee Treat. We took our kids on a ice cream date this past weekend. It was a regular stop in my childhood and there’s something nostalgic about visiting with my own children over 20 years later.

- Miss Myla. This past weekend I got to do Myla’s newborn session. Just look below and you’ll see why this precious babe easily makes the cut….
{her official blog post will make it’s debut soon!}
- My redecorated/refurnished office!! The past few weeks, we’ve spent hours working on completely redoing my office and I’m thrilled to say it’s finally DONE. Thank you to my hubby for doing all the labor, while I partook in the fun part of shopping and buying. I can’t wait to share because I love how it turned out!! Photos to come…but here’s a sneak peak of the desk I spent almost all day Tuesday driving to pick up and bring back.

- In BIG and EXCITING news…a New Mexico Wedding!!! AHHH!! Remember Valerie and Joe? I remember leaving their engagement shoot hoping and praying that I would somehow be chosen to shoot their wedding. Little did I know, they already had an account started where they were saving their sky miles to take care of my flight. So, it’s now official: I am New Mexico bound in August to shoot what is going to be a crazy fabulous day. Their wedding planning is going incredibly well and I can’t wait to see everything come together on their big day!
- My daughter’s gymnastics meet. Although I may go broke from her being in the sport, I’m proud and love watching her flourish as a gymnast. This past weekend we headed up to Tampa for her first official meet and she went home 4 medals richer and pretty darn excited for her next meet in 2 weeks.
- A full DVR. It may drive some people crazy, but I love knowing there are a ton of shows and movies waiting for me.
- The book my dear sister got me for Christmas- “Because He Loves Me” by Elyse Fitzpatrick. I’m not far yet, but it’s already rocking my world and changing my perspective on godliness.
- I’m officially addicted to Ghirardelli Crisp Chocolate Bars. As in, I embarrassingly went into Home Goods tonight to buy some because this store (and others like it) are the only place you can get them. I know, I know..who in the world does that!? I promise though they’re to die for and because of my newfound addiction, I am committing to get to the gym at least 3 times next week.
