Neglected.

I’m pretty sure that’s how my blog must feel these days. I’m okay with it though because I have spent some much needed time with my family, enjoyed a few Saturday’s off (so rare.) and captured a whole bunch of incredible people. I have so many shoots to upload and a bunch of couples, seniors and families that I really want to blog about, so even if it’s weeks down the road…I’m determined to make it happen. (And yes, I apparently really like the word “so” and in my mind, it’s impossible to overuse. : ))

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a shot from my three shoots this past Saturday.

See how awesome my Saturday was (and how gorgeous my clients are)?! Add yesterday’s greatness of church, The Lion King with my gang, football, a Sunday nap and another couple to MGP’s 2012 wedding season. I absolutely love weekends filled with all kinds of my favorite things.

Happy Monday (even though my day looks more like that of a taxi driver, maid and chef…)!

It’s Always a Good Day…

when FedEx knocks at my door and brings me some goodies! Since we’re getting ready for the big Bridal Blast, this August 21st at Germain Arena, we have been designing, album making and working up a storm. Today, this wonderful 8×8 album, from Tara and Brandon’s engagement session this past weekend, arrived at my door and I couldn’t be more excited!

Oh, how I love me some thick, lustre coated pages…
Oh, and hopefully you didn’t notice my wrinkled duvet, that is most definitely needing a date with my hot iron. I told you things have been busy around here, but for now I’m going to just write it off as a great textured background. :)  Look for more fabulousness that came from this session on tomorrow’s blog post. Happy Wednesday!

Style Me Pretty.

When I started my business a few years ago I had a short list of goals and desires for where I wanted to go and what I wanted to see happen. First and foremost, I wanted God to be glorified and I wanted myself and my business to always be centered around Him. I never wanted this to be about me. I never wanted to think that “I’ve arrived”, even if my business was successful. I never wanted to think that I could possibly know everything about photography, photoshop, lighting, etc. I wanted to be constantly learning, growing and becoming more knowledgeable in my work. I never wanted to take an ounce of this amazing career for granted. I loved my career when I started and am thrilled that I love and have even greater passion today than I did yesterday.

With that said, I also dreamed that one day my work would somehow get featured on Style Me Pretty. I knew it would be far fetched and would take time, but I was willing to work at it. (There have literally been days when I have sat and taken photographs of trees, flowers, fruit. You name it. By now, I’m pretty sure my neighbor’s all think I’m some sort of freak.) I’m excited and feel extremely blessed that today is the day where a wedding I photographed is featured on Style me Pretty. Katherine and Rodney’s wedding was one of the loveliest days I’ve captured this spring and the effort that went into their day was definitely noticed. I thank you Kate and Rodney for allowing me to do my most favorite thing on your most important day.

After years in the business, I’m thankful to say that I haven’t “arrived”, I don’t know everything photography related, I still have great passion for my work and I am more certain than ever that the Lord is the center of not only my life, but also my business. So, although I am extremely excited and honored that Style me Pretty published a wedding I shot, I find myself incredibly humbled. All of this is because of Him and I find it a great privilege that the blessings are far greater than I could have ever imagined. Happy Monday!

Goodbye, Summer.

I love summer. I love the flexibility of our schedules, the endless days at the pool and beach, no homework, sleepovers, hanging out with my kids (most of the time), sleeping in, doing whatever we want in the evening without having to watch the clock and spending so much time with our family and friends. And then, the week before school hits.  Anybody feel me here?!  Chaos, antsy kids, doctors appointments, open houses, haircuts, back to school shopping, nervous kids, fighting kids and life is just plain old crazy. The picture above pretty much describes our life the past few days. Feel free to put your own caption on it. :)

So, as of this week, it’s official…I’m ready for school to start. I’m ready for the schedule and routine to be back in our life, even if that means kids in 3 schools, a few kids playing soccer, a daughter with gymnastics 4x a week (FYI, this translates to a practice/game every single day except Sunday) and becoming the taxi mom who is constantly toting her kids from place to place everyday. I’m ready to have a quiet house from the hours of 9-2. I’m ready to take only one super cute little 3 year old with me when I need to go to the store and I’m ready for the hours when this awesome little 3 year old naps (which equals absolute silence in my house for a few hours each day). Truly, the last thing I want to do is wish time away because I see my kids growing with the blink of an eye, but I’m definitely ready for this next season in life to begin.

So long, Summer of 2011….I know in about 4 weeks I’ll be looking forward to Summer 2012! Happy Friday and happy last day of summer, for us! :)

Friday Favorites: Kyla’s Answers, Round III

For the past 2 years I’ve asked Kyla this same list of questions, and it crossed my mind this morning that I haven’t given her this mom quiz for quite some time.  It’s been so fun asking her the questions and seeing growth in her and our relationship over the years. I’m so, so thankful the Lord entrusted me with one little princess (who has her 4 brothers and daddy wrapped around her finger…) and although time is flying by way too quickly, I’m incredibly proud of the little lady she’s becoming.

To make it even more fun, here’s the links to her 2009 and 2010 answers! Apparently I work a lot more, can’t dance now but still love me some football and ice cream! She’s figuring me out more and more each year. ;) Thanks for reading and please feel free to “steal” this…it’s something that has become priceless to me! :)

These are my kids. This was my morning.

In between the laundry, editing and emailing, cleaning of sheets, scrubbing of bathrooms and endless dishes, I made a split second decision to take my kids across the street for a impromptu photo shoot. They may or may not have been bribed with candy.

We made sure to have a little fun in the process…

..and then we decided the shoot couldn’t possibly be complete without throwing the dogs in…
Happy Tuesday!

Lindsey & Mike: {Married} Naples Florida Wedding

“I don’t want to pursue guys, I just want to pursue the Lord,” Lindsey stated a little over a year ago. She was completely sold out to Christ’s will for her life, resting in Him, regardless of what he had planned for her. This led her on a missions trip to Haiti last summer. And this is where her life was forever changed, undoubtedly in more ways than one. Mike happened to be on this same missions trip, which led to a friendship and the two getting to know each other. A few months later they started dating and not long thereafter, Mike proposed to Lindsey.

I remember calling my sister right after my initial meeting with Mike and Lindsey and telling her that their relationship is so real, raw and just a deep, unexplainable love. Plain and simple, they are a perfect match for each other and the love they share is such a testimony to the plans the Lord has for us, once we surrender our own will for our life.

Mike and Linds, CONGRATS!!! It was an honor and blessing to play my role in capturing your day and your love. May your pursuit for the Lord still be the forefront in each of your lives, and I pray that your marriage is filled with willingness, great joy, grace, and unconditional love as you guys serve and glorify Christ.

They’re Baaaaacckkk: {Friday Favorites}

After a few months hiatus, and numerous people asking why I stopped, I figured I would get back into the routine of listing my favorites of the week. Ready, set, here we go- in no particular order…

1. Sephora. I’ve fallen head over heels in love with this store. Find something you want to try in the store, but don’t want to spend the $$$ without knowing you’ll love it? Ask them for a sample jar to go. How awesome is that?! Also, if you end up not liking whatever you purchase, you can return the empty bottle for a complete refund!

2. Summertime. Beach, movies, the pool, books, lots of time with our friends and endless time with my kids. I am simply, LOVING the laziness of summer.

(iphone photo)

3. Kyla’s gymnastics. She started 6 months ago and has already moved up to a level 5/6 ( which translates to 4 days a week, 3-4.5 hours each day). We are continually impressed every single week as she learns and masters new skills. Yesterday, she got her kip on the bars and she is absolutely ecstatic about it. Kyla absolutely loves it and we are so, so proud of her. Hopefully, I’ll have video to post next week!

4. Paint! We finally painted our living room after pretty much turning an eye to it for the past 7 years. It was a darker red so the task of painting the room was extremely overwhelming and we tried to do whatever we could to just make do with the color. We decided on a wet cement, greyish, brown color and although it took some getting use to, it’s now my new fave sitting place in our house. How great that a few hundred dollars can totally change a house- I love paint!

Before (furniture had already started being moved):

It only took us about 10 hours (the living room and kitchen are a big open room together) and I ask myself everyday why we waited so long. After:

We also painted our dining room (it was a green color before):

5. I’ve been loving my quiet time with the Lord this week. It truly is amazing how different my day is if I spend a little bit of the morning in the Word. I also came across this article this week and I think it’s a great read for ANY mother (or father) out there:

http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/motherhood-is-a-calling-and-where-your-children-rank

6. Words with friends. It never gets old and the competitive person in me takes it oh so seriously. Let’s play: MGlassford5.

Happy Friday! I’m off to take my little ones on a Winnie the Pooh movie date. :)

Lauren & Lucas: Estero, Florida Engagement Session

I started emailing with Lauren a few weeks ago and I knew instantly I wanted to shoot her wedding. All because of a few smiley faces and a handful of exclamation marks. I totally love when brides, friends and people in general, include ” : ) ” and ” !!! ” when writing to me, and Lauren never held any of them back. My sister totally makes fun of me for me but I feel like texts and emails need some sort of face and/or exclamation to go along with the message, so people know how to perceive it. If someone said “I really like your dress.” or “I really like your dress!! : )”, the latter seems so much more positive to me.  Call me crazy, annoying or cheesy, but I’m pretty much a professional photographer, smiley face freak (sparingly, of course). : )

Anyway, these smiley faces and exclamation marks carried over to our meeting. As soon as I met Lauren and Lucas, I could feel the excitement, joy and giddiness as we discussed their wedding and recent engagement. They simply radiate love and I am completely honored and excited that they have chosen me to capture every ounce of it.

Lauren and Lucas, I had a blast with the two of you!! I hope you have started to recover from the hundreds of mosquito bites you went home with after our shoot.  You guys did fantastic and I hope as you scroll down, you feel that each and every bite was well worth it.  I seriously cannot wait for your big day next June!

(Sidenote: One of the first things Lauren told me at this shoot was that she can’t do a serious pose. I’m pretty sure you can never utter those words again, my friend, because you totally pull off the “I’m am IN LOVE with my fiance” serious pose. And, it’s pretty darn STUNNING.)

The next two are some of my absolute favorites from the shoot…

Oh, backlighting, how I love you…

Seriously? I can hardly handle your amazingness, guys!

Who says engagement sessions aren’t fun?

Erin & Eric: A Green Tree Wedding (Avon Park and Sebring, Florida)

What all began as a blind date a few years ago, led to the most beautiful start of a marriage yesterday for Eric and Erin. I had the honor of capturing this incredible wedding day at the First Baptist Church in Avon Park, with the reception to follow at the Highlands County Fairgrounds in Sebring, Florida. The day was nothing short of perfect- a adorable and stunning couple, a God-centered ceremony by the wonderful Jared Longshore, the most hilarious bridal party, a unique lantern filled reception, and little details with every turn.

Erin & Eric decided to see each other before the ceremony. I love this intimate moment of the day…

I can hardly handle your gorgeousness.

I promise you there’s nothing like 10 groomsmen singing Backstreet Boys, to have a little fun during their pictures…

Someday, I may have to show the picture that took place two seconds after this one…oh girls, you were too fun!
One of my favorite moments before a wedding. All the girls praying over Erin before she becomes Eric’s wife.
Erin and her sweet little niece, Livia. I don’t really think it can get much cuter than this!

First kiss!

I LOVE getting to work in small town locations that I’ve never shot before. It’s just so different than everything we have in Southwest Florida, and the rustic charm of these little towns in the middle of our state just make me swoon as I go through them. Oh, and an awesome bridal party definitely makes for plenty of fun!

Reception bound!
Details, details…

I love the thumb tree for the guests to leave their little mark on the day.
Do you see how gorgeous this room was?! I couldn’t get enough of the lanterns that were everywhere!Yes, that would be a backflip….I never thought dried peas could add the perfect touch to the centerpieces. Brilliant.Eric & Erin decided to share a last dance while all the guests got ready outside with the birdseed. This was definitely a special moment of the day.
Congratulations Erin and Eric! I was so blessed to be a part of your wedding day and I wish you two a marriage filled with great love and joy through all the years to come!

Katherine & Rodney: Verandah Country Club, Fort Myers, Florida

I think this is one of the hardest blog entires I’ve done in a long time. I seem to write a paragraph and just hold the backspace button seconds later. Simply put, words are hard to describe Kate and Rodney’s wedding day…and only because it was that good.  I got to work with the most lovely of couples, at an extremely charming venue (Verandah Country Club), with a beautiful ceremony and endless detail during the entire garden theme and vintage inspired day.

First off, the Verandah Country Club is unlike anything we have in Southwest Florida. You pretty much feel like you’ve taken a vacation up to the Carolinas, even though you’ve only driven about 20 minutes. There is just no sign of Florida when you’re on the property. For those of us who have lived here our entire lives, and like a little change, I promise this place is pretty heavenly. Mix this location with an insanely detailed reception and I’m a photographer on cloud 9. From the old typewriter, burlap table numbers, little jelly favors and the assorted garden flowers- I could have taken detail photographs for hours. Thanks guys (and everyone else who helped!) for the hard work, energy, thought and time that went into detailing your day to the extreme. It was worth it.

Last but definitely not least, Kate and Rodney. Congratulations!!  I pray that the joy you both had on your wedding day carries over for all the days in your marriage and that you never lack in serving each other as you grow old. Thanks for choosing me to capture every moment of your most special day. I was so blessed and honored to be a part and I hope the photographs bring you great memories for years to come!

Without further ado…Kate and Rodney: {Married}…Enjoy!

Preslie: Downtown Fort Myers Senior Rep

I was so excited when I found out Preslie wanted to be a C/O 2012 senior rep for MGP. She’s adorable and beyond sweet, so needless to say, I was stoked. Once the shoot started, I quickly started to notice Preslie was unlike anyone I had ever shot before. She worked the camera like she had been practicing up for this shoot for a handful of years. And, then I found out little miss gorgeous used to be a child MODEL. My initial stoked about the shoot pretty much jumped to a whole ‘nother level with each location and outfit change. I can’t possibly be the only to think Preslie should spend more time hanging out in front of the camera, right?!

Thanks Preslie for being so incredibly sweet and wonderful  to work with. You are so full of life and truly a joy to be around. I pray this year ahead is a great blessing for you and that the Lord clearly reveals His plan for you, as you make some big changes and decisions in the months and years to come.

{Also, thanks to Preslie’s cousin, Ali, who tagged along, sang us songs, touched up makeup and hair, carried bags and kept us both highly entertained the entire time!! You were awesome, although I’m sure you already know. ;) }

*Happy* Fourth of July!

Ahh, this weekend has been so refreshing and absolutely what our family needed. Days filled with laying around in bed, playing with our kids and taking little random trips out into civilization here and there. Usually I’m the type to have my bed made within about 5 minutes of being up for the day. However, this weekend our bed has been unmade almost all weekend and I’ve loved every second of it. Here’s a little of today’s ventures..after church we did some cookie baking…none other than the precut, predesigned Fourth of July cookies:

(*sidenote* why my youngest makes freakish faces for the camera, I do not know. But, I promise he’s cute.)

Here’s the before picture. I’m afraid you won’t be seeing an after picture….

Later tonight we made our trek over to Boppa’s house (my dad). I am so thankful he lives only one street away and is such an active influence in my kids life. I don’t take an ounce of this for granted, especially since I grew up living far away from my grandparents.

A perfect evening filled with rock throwing and fishing….

..and a perfect ending to the day, with none other than a Justin Bieber and Cha-Cha Slide (on repeat, of course) dance party in Boppa’s living room. Thanking the Lord for such a wonderful, happy weekend with my family and looking forward to celebrating with lots of friends today, at what will surely be an awesome Fourth of July cookout!

Little Alli.

Want to know how I ended up spending my Saturday morning? With this most adorable little 10 day old princess, who was probably the best baby I’ve ever taken a photograph of. Literally, I don’t think she made a peep for the entire 3 hours I was there. Meet Little Miss Alli:

I’m almost certain there’s nothing more sweet than seeing a precious little newborn grin from ear to ear in their sleep…

And, do you see the dimples?!

Congratulations Lauren and Eric on your gorgeous, perfect and sweet little daughter. Thanks so much for allowing me to capture this most special time in your life!

Welcome, Summer.

You are much wanted and welcomed in the Glassford household. Days with no schedules, sleeping in, sunshine and friends= PERFECTION.

This week started off by picking my cousin and her little boy up at the airport. Little did I know, they had a huge surprise waiting! As I sat in my car, hanging out patiently in the arrivals lane, I suddenly notice my grandma standing on the sidewalk waiting for her ride. My Grandma (!!!!!!). I hadn’t seen her in 3 LONG years and I almost broke into a waterfall of tears once she was spotted. This past week was spent lunching, shopping, dining, beaching, and lots and lots of laughing. We had the absolute best time and I am so grateful my cousin and grandma stopped by for a visit!

Now, back to reality we go. Thankfully, that means more pool and beach time with the kids and friends. Oh, and just because it’s been so very long (as in 10 weeks!), I’m really looking forward to having this ENTIRE weekend off. No weddings, no shoots, nothing. Happy Friday!

Lindsey & Mike: {Engaged}

I’m always so excited about my upcoming weddings, but I think the excitement is even tenfold once I get to work with a couple during their engagement shoot. I get to know, experience, laugh, capture and just fall in love with the couple during this time, and this is exactly how it was with Lindsey and Mike. They are both such wonderful people and together, make an awesome couple.

Lindsey and Mike, thanks so much for letting me capture your love. You guys were quite the models and made my job so, so easy that day! I know your wedding is going to be exceptional and I truly look forward to October when I get to work with your gorgeous selves again!

Lindsey, you’re stunning!!!

Katie & Luis: Waiting On Greyson

A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting, getting know and working with Katie and Luis as I captured their amazing wedding (which you can view here). In fact, I liked Katie so much I brought her onboard MGP and she is now the creative assistant, doing everything from editing to second shooting. You could say Luis helps Katie in this department too because (just like my husband) he has no problem critiquing any picture that comes his way. :) Truly though, I am so grateful for all she does and her willingness to not only succeed, but do anything to exceed my expectations. I am blessed to call her my friend and I am so excited to watch her role as mother begin!

In just a few short weeks, or really any day for that matter, they will be welcoming their little man- Greyson- into this world and I am absolutely thrilled for them. I know they are going to make wonderful parents as they raise this precious boy in the ways of the Lord. I remember reading an article by John Piper where he talks about being coronary Christians rather than adrenal Christians and I think this is so vital when it comes to parenthood. There are days when we don’t want to serve our children or have patience with them, but as a coronary Christian we have to be reminded that it’s not about comfort but rather the cause. Anyway, here is a little snippet from Piper’s article and I pray it encourages you the way it does me, regardless of role:

“I am glad for adrenaline; I suspect it gets me through lots of Sundays. But it doesn’t do much for Mondays. I am more thankful for my heart. It just keeps on serving – during good days and bad days, happy and sad, high and low, appreciated and unappreciated. It never lets me down. It never says, “I don’t like your attitude, Piper, I’m taking a day off.” It just keeps humbly lubb-dubbing along.

Coronary Christians are like the heart in the causes they serve. Adrenal Christians are like adrenaline – a spurt of energy and then fatigue. What we need in the cause for the unborn is coronary Christians. Marathoners, not just sprinters. People who find the pace to finish the (life-long) race.

O, for coronary Christians! Christians committed to great Causes, not great comforts. I pleaded with you to dream a dream bigger than you and your families and your churches. I tried to un-deify the American family and say that our children are not our cause; they are given to us to train for the great causes of mercy and justice in a prejudiced, pain-filled, and perishing world.”

Luis and Katie, I am THRILLED for you guys and cannot wait to meet your little Greyson!

Kim & Mark: {Engaged}

I’m still alive, but just wrapped up in a web called wedding season. Thankfully, I love pretty much every second of it. Seven of the 9 weddings in a row are complete and it’s an understatement to say that they’ve been incredible. I feel so blessed. I know it may sound redundant, but I am pretty sure I have the best clients ever. The couples this spring have been so wonderful and the weddings have been fabulous. I feel like every single Saturday I end up with a new “favorite” wedding because they’re all that great. A big thank you goes out to every single person I’ve worked with the past few months. You are all too sweet and kind for words.

Last week I had the pleasure of capturing Kim and Mark’s (or, John as I like to call him) engagement session. I had only spoken to Kim over the phone, but considering we went to the same high school and she’s an alum from the University of Florida, I knew we would hit it off. Really though, she is as nice as they come. I love how laid back she is and just totally trusts me to do my job. Mark, well, he’s hysterical and had me laughing the entire time.

We started the engagement shoot at Koreshan State Park, but were asked to leave after a handful of minutes into the shoot. Apparently, they didn’t want anyone in there past 5pm. A little frustrated, we hopped across the street at the location I’ve been eyeing and dying to shoot for months- a fruit stand, field and canoe shop. Definitely a little blessing in disguise because I am totally in love with everything we captured from the shoot. Plus, I had the perfect people for this location…don’t they totally pull off the model look?!

Mark and Kim, thanks for being awesome. You two are a wonderful couple and I truly look forward to capturing your wedding day this October!

{Friday Favorites}

They’re back….

After a two week hiatus (hey, what can I say, we’re in the middle of wedding season!) and a mental list a mile long, I’m finally going to get a few favorites up this week!

- It’s obvious I love weddings, so of course the Royal Wedding has to be mentioned in my favorites. I set my alarm, set my coffee maker on delay and made sure to DVR. Here’s praying my kids love weddings as much as I do since it is Spring Break and all, which means, William and Kate are taking over the Disney Channel on the big TV.

- Spring Break. There’s definitely been stressful moments and a little bit of craziness, but I loved having my kids at home all week. It’s making me excited for the summer days ahead filled with trips to the pool and beach.

- My BFF. One of my closest friends (or as I call her- my “second sister”) moved to NJ last August, but she told me this week that she’s planning on coming to the Fort for the whole month of July. THIS makes me smile and get all giddy knowing I’ll have playdates, chickfila dates, random shopping trips and fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants memories made with her and her girls. STOKED is an understatement. :)

-  The Apple Store. My iMac’s hard drive crashed this week and they have been so, so helpful through the whole process. No worries, I always have everything doubly backed up, but the thought of not having to buy another iMac is exciting. And, I love that all the Apple employees are pretty much geniuses. I guess that’s why they call the “repair station” the “genius bar”.

- Chris and Rachel’s wedding this past weekend. It was nothing short of fabulous, the detail was insane and C&R are so madly in love that I can hardly stand it. I am dying to share it with you all. Just because I can’t resist….

- In fact, this Spring wedding season in general. I could NOT ask for better brides (and grooms!), weddings, venues, etc. I adore that each one is uniquely created and suited to and for each couple so every Saturday I get to show up to something completely different from the week before. Tomorrow is Ben and Natalie’s wedding at Kensington Country Club in Naples and we’re super excited to say the least.

- My husband. I love him more today than I did yesterday. I’m thankful and blessed I have a husband who loves me regardless of anything.

…and this 1AM post is the reason I should never drink a cup of coffee at 11PM, especially on Royal Wedding day!

Chris & Rachel: {First Look}

In case you’re debating a first look for your wedding, I figure I would show you a little snippet of Chris and Rachel’s first look this past Saturday. There is something so special about this private and intimate moment as a groom sees his bride for the first time. Chris, you’re either an awesome actor or madly in love with your gorgeous *wife*. I’m certain I know the answer, but thank you for the I*almost*passed*out*when*I*first*saw*my*bride* reaction. It was beyond priceless.

I totally understand the desire to be traditional, trust me. However, I must admit, this is pretty darn romantic and tear jerking in it’s very own way. Enjoy!

Chad & Laura: {Married} : Naples Beach Club, Florida

I honestly don’t even know where to begin by describing Chad and Laura’s wedding a few Saturdays ago. Stunning, gorgeous, fun, beautiful, detailed, classy, elegant…take these words and multiply them by about 100. The day was truly wonderful and Laura and Chad make an amazing husband and wife.

Both graduates of the University of Florida, they had a chance meeting a few years later (and instant connection) at a UF football game. Chad, who had moved to Naples, invited Laura to come down the following weekend for a date. A few years of dating, lots of travel and a surprise proposal brought us to the most special day in their life as a couple…March 19th, 2011. Congratulations Laura and Chad! It was such an honor to capture your gorgeous day!

Yonier & Ivellise: Engagement Slideshow

Justin and Shannon: Slideshow

Justin & Shannon: In Love and Just Because.

I feel blessed to have such passion about what I do and I totally love being behind the camera. However, this passion only grows when a couple (okay, the bride, woman, wife, etc.) is just as passionate about their session with me, making sure to put careful thought into what they want their final product to look like. Shannon and I started emailed a few weeks before their session happened and every time I would see a new message in my inbox from her I would definitely get a little giddy. She had such interest and excitement, that it only rubbed me off and got me even more interested and excited in capturing a “In Love and Just Because Session” with her and her husband, Justin.

Thank you Shannon for being awesome. For real. You are so sweet and the encouraging and sweet words you keep sending my way mean so very much to me. Thank you Justin for being wonderful too and for being a chocolate maker that I can’t wait to work with in the near future. If you need, want or even want to bring me some chocolate, check out Justin’s company, Irresistible Confections (or on facebook). Shannon and Justin, thank you, thank you, thank you. Together, you’re a fantastic couple and I had so much fun hanging out with you and capturing your love. I hope you love your pictures and that they are cherished for years to come.

{Friday Favorites}

- My awesome sister got tickets for me and my dad to go see Miranda Lambert this coming Thursday at Germain arena. I’m so excited!! The three of us saw Miranda 3 or 4 years ago and there’s a chance I maybe didn’t like her as much back then as I do now. Plus, who doesn’t love a free concert ticket?!

(This was us at the concert where she opened for Kenny Chesney a few years. Can’t wait to be concert bound together again!)

- Florals. Goodness, it seems lately I am all about floral print. Yes, I know it’s considered in style right now, but I really am not much of a flowery person. I probably overdid the whole look back in the 80′s but I’m starting to fall in love with them more and more everyday. Here’s one of the tanks I bought this week:

- My Canon 35mm 1.4L lens. Let’s be honest, using a prime lens definitely takes some getting used to. In the last week or two, I have started using it so much more and am being reminded of how much I absolutely love this lens!!

- The sunrise. The best thing about leaving my house every morning at 7:20, to take my daughter to school, is that we get to experience the most *gorgeous* sunrise. I’m talking amazing clouds, the beautiful orange blaring sun and a blue sky- every single one of us talk about it almost the entire car ride to school, it’s that great. It’s also the greatest reminder of how great God is and that his promises are new every single morning. Could you imagine life without the sun or life without new beginnings every single morning?

- Today is picture day…for me!  This is most definitely not my favorite, as I despise being in front of the camera, but it’s one of the final touches needed for my new website, which I am so excited to release! Thank you to Katie, one of my awesome employees, for doing this shoot with me and putting up with my awkward-in-front-of-camera self!

- Last but not least, did you see this hilarious youtube video of the little boy who wanted to be governor of New Jersey?! It makes me laugh every time.

Yonier & Ivellise: Barefoot Beach Engagements

After careful planning, and weeks of figuring out Yonier and Ivellise’s engagement session, we ended up getting rained out and thankfully they were kind enough to change everything to the very next day. Ivellise had a hair appointment and was getting her makeup professionally done for their shoot, so we really wanted to make sure we picked a day with great weather…and that we did. It was probably the prettiest afternoon/evening on the beach that you could ever dream of having. No humidity, a slight breeze, hardly any clouds in the sky- plain and simple, it was lovely and I was so thankful we pushed it back one day.

Yonier and Ivellise, I hope you guys had so much fun at your engagement session. You guys are just as gorgeous and sweet as a couple as you are individually. I still can’t get over how much the camera loves both of you- I’m honestly jealous. :) Your wedding is going to be fabulous and I truly look forward to capturing every moment of your big day!

Sidenote: Ivellise is obviously naturally beautiful, but I cannot even begin to stress the difference professional makeup does for a photo shoot!! Typically, the camera washes makeup out, portraying very muted final image and the professional makeup artists know just what to do in order to make a person look their best to be camera ready. I highly recommend you spending the little extra money to get it done if/when you’re planning any kind of shoot in the near future!!

{Friday Favorites}

The past few weeks have been pretty nuts around here. Last Friday, after days of speculating, my husband was officially given doctors orders to “really take it easy” since he was officially diagnosed with two broken ribs (hence, the no Friday Favorites last week). Being that my husband is pretty hands on and helpful with the kids, this is definitely making me one tired momma! Thankful, he’s feeling better and better with each day, so hopefully we’ll be back to normal in no time.

Here we go…

1. Good grades! I am so so proud that all of our kids ended up with mainly A’s and few B’s for quarter 3! Our oldest has worked his butt off this quarter in his advanced classes and had all A’s and only 2 B’s for the quarter. I am hoping that praying that their desire to do well in school continues as they keep moving on up. Speaking of which, how in the world are we already in the 4th quarter!?

2. A clean car. Today I took my gigantic, filthy expedition to the car wash and happily forked over $12 for a good cleaning inside and out. I’ll tell you what, a clean car makes me feel refreshed, so much more organized and quite simply, makes me smile.

3. My daughter’s artwork was chosen to be on display at the local Alliance for the Arts. Only 25 pieces of art were chosen from her school, which is such a big honor. We went to the open house reception last night and walked around admiring all of the amazing work. I couldn’t believe some of the talent and I am so proud that my daughter made it into such an amazing show!

4. The baby chicks my son’s school are growing. They have been heating the eggs for two or three weeks now and the baby chicks have started to hatch in the past week. It’s so amazing and we’ve had so much fun watching the eggs slowly crack open and all the different chicks start to make their big debut! I *almost* want to do this little project at our house….*almost*.

Here’s just a few other things that made smile this week (in no particular order :) ):

1. Lots of lunches with friends. Thank you Chickfila for the indoor playground. It keeps me sane.

2. Tropical Smoothie.

3. Lunch with my daughter.

4. Bible Study.

5. My husband.

6. Time at the pool.

I hope your weekend is amazing!

Jason & Brooke: Engagements at Lakes Park

This engagement session makes me realize how far behind my blog is…we did this shoot about a month ago and Jason and Brooke will be tying the knot in less than 48 hours! We had had so much fun at their shoot and they are truly such naturals in front of the camera. Don’t they both just have the best smiles?! Jason and Brooke, I am totally looking forward to Saturday and capturing your love, laughter, and joy as you two begin the rest of your lives together!

PS. Saturday has no idea what’s coming..a grand entrance like none other, a beautiful bride, a handsome groom and hopefully the most perfect Florida weather. Can’t wait!

Brandon & Jennifer: Engagements at Riverside Park

I was so excited to capture Brandon and Jennifer’s engagement pictures a few weeks ago at the gorgeous Riverside Park in Bonita Springs. Little did I know, I was in for an engagement session filled with nothing but laughter and fun. Honestly, I’ve never had a couple who could and did make each other laugh as much as these two! Brandon and Jennifer, thanks for an awesome session and I cannot wait for your wedding later this year!

It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…

…It’s the Glassford Gang at the Florida International Air Show! I never thought I would post a picture like the one below…

But, alas, I’m the mom of lots of boys, so it’s inevitable. The stunts these planes and jets did were fantastic and definitely caught everyone’s attention.

So, maybe I have wimpy boys, but they still had a blast.

Truthfully, I think they much preferred the quietness of men and women falling from the sky. What a great reminder of how truly blessed our country is. I love this picture.

We loved walking around and touching the old airplanes, WWII vehicles and WWI and II memorabilia.

Oh, and eating. I can’t forget about the snow cones, funnel cakes and pretzels! BTW, the picture on the right is from when we first arrived and the left was after about 3 hours. See the amount of dirt that has smothered my favorite 3 year old’s little face?! He looks like he’s growing facial hair!

Last but not least, the whole reason for our trip. Honestly, I can’t tell you the names or differences, but I can tell you that they were so much fun to watch and the talent these pilots all had were unbelievable. Thank you www.floridaairshow.com for a wonderful 2011 show. We can’t wait until next year!

Stay tuned because there are many more posts to come this week! Amazing weddings, gorgeous engagement sessions and a few little ones. Happy Monday!
